Job Fair at Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow on 6th June 2018

It has been designed to help local people find jobs and to help employers fill vacancies. It is being organised by The Job Fairs UK. Employers in attendance will include; Ourselves (Diaspora Communities Support Services), Army, Cordant Security, Wisegroup, GP Strategies, Street League, William Hill, Venture Scotland, Young People’s Consortium, First Steps Future Training, Mears, Jobs & Business Glasgow, East End Carers, Celtic FC, Community Lifestyles, Heart for the City and more. Its a drop in event open from 10am to 1pm.
It is a good idea to bring copies of your CV with you as between 17 – 25 companies will be recruiting on the day.

Skills Development Scotland (SDS) Individual Training Accounts (ITAs) are for people who are 16 or over, living in Scotland and either in low paid work or actively seeking work. You must have an income of £22,000 a year or less, or be on certain benefits to be eligible to get up to £200 towards the costs of learning or training.
You can apply for an ITA if you are not undertaking any secondary, further or higher education, SDS funded training or participating on the Community Jobs Scotland programme.
ITAs are available if you are interested in learning something new or developing an existing skill to support you in work. There is a wide range of courses to choose from and you can study with any ITA approved learning provider, including learning centres, local colleges, universities and private training providers such as ourselves.

Introduction to Microsoft Office
Many administrative roles involve with the coordination and implementation of office procedures through use of a variety of software packages to manage data and produce documents and presentations. This 2 day course is designed to provide an introduction into Microsoft Office package (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and is ideal for those wishing to gain skills in office administration. The course also includes an introduction into social media for professional use as the rise of social media had made it essential for many organisations to have an online presence. In total the course covers 5 unit as shown below.
Unit 1
Introduction into Microsoft Word; Getting started, Creating, editing and saving document, Formatting documents and using templates, Inserting text, tables, pictures, shapes, links, headers, footers, page numbers and media, Managing page layouts, Getting help, Printing, settings and working with PDF files.
Unit 2
Introduction into Microsoft PowerPoint; Getting started, Creating, editing and saving presentations, Using templates, Inserting text, tables, pictures, shapes, links, headers, footers, page numbers and media, Animating the presentation, Running the slideshow, Getting help, Printing and settings.
Unit 3
Introduction into Microsoft Excel; Getting started, Creating workbooks and sheets and saving documents, Inserting numbers, text, pictures and shapes, Generating charts and sparklines, Working with formulas and functions, Getting help, Printing and settings.
Unit 4
Introduction into Microsoft Outlook; Getting started, Creating a new email, Attaching files and items, Adding a signature and tag, Sending, receiving email and other responses; forwarding, creating meetings, Appointments and tasks, Managing the mailbox; deleting emails, cleaning up mailbox, creating folders, moving messages and files, Performing backups; importing and exporting files, Filtering emails.

Introduction to social media; Setting up a LinkedIn account, Setting up a Twitter account.
There is no formal exam, attendants will receive a certificate of attendance once they have completed tasks set in the course booklet.

SIA Door Supervision SCQF Level 6
It is essential that all individuals working in the private security industry undergo a structured training programme that results in a recognised qualification. This SIA training is for those wishing to begin work as a Door Supervisor. On successful completion of the course, and passing the required examinations, delegates will be able to apply for the Door Supervisor's license which will allow the individual to operate as a qualified Door Supervisor.
This qualification is based on the SIA specification for core competency training for Door Supervisors which covers the knowledge and understanding that all candidates must prove in order to be issued with their license to practice. To gain your SIA Door Supervisor License, you will need to attend and take four training modules and pass three exams. The course is delivered over 38 guided learning hours, 30 hours of which are contact hours.

The Waste & Environmental Management Program
University of the West of Scotland in partnership with Diaspora Communities Support Service has designed a 21 days, tailor made program to deliver provision in the key themes of recycling, sanitary landfill, technologies useful for waste management, waste to energy, and other relevant linked areas, drawing on existing content from the PgDip / MSc in Waste and Resource Management including:

- Sustainable Environmental / Waste Management
- Concepts and Tools in Environmental / Waste Technology
- Pollution Control
- Waste Management Techniques
- Process Principles for Clean Technologies
This program also includes content from other UWS provision including:
- Project Management
- Financial Management
This special course content recognizes the diversity of professional practioners from various backgrounds and hence some aspects have to be adjusted to suit the cohort of participants. In addition to the academic content, the course has a significant (50/50 split) practical / site visit element. The delegates will visit and see existing successful waste management, recycling and environmental facilities in other urban areas.
The course is to be for approximately 21 days residential, with costs inclusive of travel, accommodation, and meals.
