Introduction to Microsoft Office

Many administrative roles involve with the coordination and implementation of office procedures through use of a variety of software packages to manage data and produce documents and presentations. This 2 day course is designed to provide an introduction into Microsoft Office package (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and is ideal for those wishing to gain skills in office administration. The course also includes an introduction into social media for professional use as the rise of social media had made it essential for many organisations to have an online presence. In total the course covers 5 unit as shown below.

Unit 1

Introduction into Microsoft Word; Getting started, Creating, editing and saving document, Formatting documents and using templates, Inserting text, tables, pictures, shapes, links, headers, footers, page numbers and media, Managing page layouts, Getting help, Printing, settings and working with PDF files.

Unit 2

Introduction into Microsoft PowerPoint; Getting started, Creating, editing and saving presentations, Using templates, Inserting text, tables, pictures, shapes, links, headers, footers, page numbers and media, Animating the presentation, Running the slideshow, Getting help, Printing and settings.

Unit 3

Introduction into Microsoft Excel; Getting started, Creating workbooks and sheets and saving documents, Inserting numbers, text, pictures and shapes, Generating charts and sparklines, Working with formulas and functions, Getting help, Printing and settings.

Unit 4

Introduction into Microsoft Outlook; Getting started, Creating a new email, Attaching files and items, Adding a signature and tag, Sending, receiving email and other responses; forwarding, creating meetings, Appointments and tasks, Managing the mailbox; deleting emails, cleaning up mailbox, creating folders, moving messages and files, Performing backups; importing and exporting files, Filtering emails.

Unit 5

Introduction to social media; Setting up a LinkedIn account, Setting up a Twitter account.

There is no formal exam, attendants will receive a certificate of attendance once they have completed tasks set in the course booklet.

Basic Education
Basic computer experience preferable but not essential
